Daughter of House Music Icon Kathy Brown Lanuches GoFundMe After Cancer Diagnosis

House music icon Kathy Brown was recently diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer, which has now spread to her brain, according to a press release shared with EDM.com. Now, her daughter is asking for help from the community she's long been a part of by launching a GoFundMe campaign.

Brown is currently receiving various treatments, including radiotherapy and immunotherapy. The fundraiser was created to help offset the costs of her medical bills since she is unable to continue to perform live and earn a steady income during her recovery.

Beloved for her many soulful tracks, like "Turn Me Out (Turn to Sugar)" and "Strings of Life (Stronger on My Own)," Brown has long been a mainstay in the house music scene. Her influence runs deep within the genre's roots and she remained an influential artist since her debut in 1993.

London-based record label Revival will be matching donations up to $10,000. Toolroom Records has also announced a charity single from Wh0, James Hurr and label owner Mark Knight titled "Turn Me Deeper." Scheduled to release on January 19th, the track will feature a vocal sample from Brown, to whose cause all proceeds will be donated.
