Eco-Conscious Ultra Music Festival Program Wins World Sustainability Award

The eco-conscious efforts of Ultra Music Festival have been recognized by the prestigious World Sustainability Awards.

The World Sustainability Awards is an annual celebration of organizations championing environmentalism in their strategic development. This year, Ultra was one of 13 winners that came out on top from a pool of 220 applications ranging from over 35 different countries across the globe.

Ultra was named a global leader in environmental responsibility due to the company's "Mission: Home" initiative. According to the World Sustainability Leaders website, the Ultra Music Festival team has trained over 1,000 of their colleagues about sustainability practices and the campaign has reached about six million people.

"Coming from a diverse range of professional backgrounds, Ultra Music Festival’s lean but agile sustainability team has worked with a host of partners both within and outside the organization to drive tangible changes in areas ranging from eliminating [nearly] 90% of single-use plastics from its site to diverting 180,000 pounds of waste from landfill and supporting local communities with food and beverage donation," reads the World Sustainability Leaders website.

The women-led "Mission: Home" program demonstrates the power of collaboration among Ultra's staff, vendors, community partners and festival attendees to champion festival sustainability.

"This speaks volumes about the power of music and the arts to call on collective action, and what better purpose than protecting our planet," Vivian Belzaguy Hunter, Director of Sustainability at Ultra Music Festival, said in a press release.

Ultra Music Festival is scheduled to return to Miami from March 22-24, 2024 with a massive lineup. You can learn more about the festival's sustainability program here.
