Bass Music-Led Breathwork Experience Coming To Academy LA This Weekend

A new sound-immersive breathwork experience is coming to one of Los Angeles’ most famous dance music venues.

Inspiratus Breathwork‘s half-day “Forge Your Purpose” workshop will run from 12PM-4PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Academy LA, featuring a 60-minute breathwork journey hosted by Inspiratus Breathwork founder Shane Cole and his team of certified facilitators. 

Plenty of great tunes have come booming out of the Academy LA speakers over the years, and for the venue’s first-ever breathwork event, Inspiratus Breathwork will utilize Academy’s high-fidelity sound system and a melodic bass playlist—featuring the sounds of GRiZ, CloZee and LSDREAM—to transport attendees into “altered states of consciousness” using the power of breath.

“Bass music is perfect during breathwork journeys because the journey will activate a profound level of sensitivity in your body,” Inspiratus Breathwork writes on their official event webpage. “You can feel each cell of your body being moved and cleansed by the bass. The sound system will create a fully immersive healing experience that has never been experienced before.”

Inspiratus Breathwork adds that the workshop, which will be one of the first of its kind to be conducted at a large scale, forgoes “outdated Freudian psychoanalytic models to breathwork” in favor of a research-backed, evidence-based approach.

In addition to a guided breathwork journey, experience highlights include journaling and small group sharing “to start mapping your purpose,” post-event community time to discuss the experience with fellow breathers and facilitators, and a gift bag from sponsoring partner Dr. Bronner’s with soap, chocolate and chapstick.

Organizers promise that the workshop will help attendees build resilience, reclaim attention, release stress and trauma and experience “the healing power of bass music in a new way,” among other benefits.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, journal, pen and water bottle.
