AlphaTheta Launches rekordbox 7
AlphaTheta, the recently rebranded parent company of Pioneer DJ, has launched rekordbox 7, the newest version of its music organization and DJ performance software.
The seventh iteration of the industry standard software has been completely rebuilt to support Apple silicon chips and features major performance upgrades, including a “56 percent reduction in CPU processing load and a 38 percent reduction in power consumption during startup,” according to the company.
Visually, a new user interface has swapped text headings with icons in the tree view used for quickly selecting playlists. Music browsing has been optimized for streaming services, including new discovery tools integrated with Beatport streaming, which now mirror the digital music marketplace’s website with new releases and recommended tracks.
rekordbox 7’s proclivity for streaming is also evidenced in its new Streaming Radar feature, which analyzes tracks for traits like atmosphere and genre and recommends tunes from platforms like SoundCloud, TIDAL and Beatport based on their similarity to your catalog.
Software learning capabilities continue with rekordbox 7’s new Intelligent Cue Creation feature, which can automatically set cue points at four, eight, or sixteen-bar intervals and apply learned cuepoint styles to new music based on cues previously set for other tracks. The program can also check rekordbox servers for crowd-sourced cue info for a specific track.
Additional features include collaborative playlists and the ability to test out mix compatibility without switching to performance mode, thanks to a new dual-player view in export mode.
Most of the new features found in rekordbox 7 live behind the software’s paid Creative and Pro subscription tiers, which respectively cost $23 and $30 per month.
