John Summit Sets Release Date For Debut Album, ‘Comfort In
Chaos’
House and techno sensation John Summit has just announced that his highly anticipated debut album, Comfort In Chaos, will arrive on Friday, July 12, via his own Experts Only imprint in partnership with Darkroom Records.
“my most vulnerable work to date,” Summit wrote of the album on Instagram today. “i’ve put my heart and soul into this & after years in the making i can’t wait to finally share it w u all.”
According to a press release, Comfort In Chaos is a product of Summit’s recent push to embrace parts of his musical identity that might not be immediately apparent to fans. It is said to reveal “the man behind the icon.”
Including previously released album singles like “EAT THE BASS,” “Shiver” with Hayla, and “Go Back” with Sub Focus and Julia Church, Summit’s full-length debut promises moments of extraordinary beauty and his trademark hedonism. It also explores his favorite traditionally British genres, like garage, liquid,, and dancefloor drum and bass.
“Trying to find peace in chaos is the overarching theme of this album,” Summit said in a press release. “This is a far more emotional, melodic body of work for me, because it’s my most introspective work to date.”
“John Summit is the performing act, but when I write music I get more vulnerable—while writing this album, I had to go from being in the mindset of John Summit to being John Schuster, my real name,” he continued.
Forgoing popular music’s traditionally “face-first” branding, the new album’s cover art, designed by Marcos Alvarado, aims to convey themes of consciousness, meditation, and spirituality—motifs centric to the Puerto Rican artist’s celebrated work and Summit’s recent releases.
After opening his summer festival season with massive headline gigs at Coachella and EDC Las Vegas, Summit will hit the road this summer for another global run of shows, including stops in Toronto, Mykonos, Ibiza and his sold-out debut at New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden.
