Insomniac Donates EDC Las Vegas Plants To Clark County Residents

Even after the conclusion of EDC Las Vegas, Insomniac is keeping PLUR alive in Sin City, reportedly donating thousands of dollars in plants and trees to local residents for a fourth year.

After the promoter’s hallmark festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway wrapped up on May 19, flora previously used to decorate the festival grounds was distributed to “people and businesses that need them” across Clark County, Nevada last week, according to a Facebook post from the county.

Insomniac again worked on the project with Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick, who, after last year’s tree donations, emphasized the importance of tree planting in an ongoing fight against urban heat island impacts in Las Vegas.

These heat island impacts—dense concentrations of pavement, buildings, and other surfaces that absorb and retain heat—make urban areas up to seven degrees warmer than areas with foliage, according to Kirkpatrick. This is a significant statistic in Las Vegas, where average summer temperatures can reach 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Beyond plants and trees, Insomniac also donates a percentage of ticket sales from each edition of EDC Las Vegas to various area nonprofits and charitable funds—more than $2 million since 2011.

Last month, Insomniac’s 2024 EDC Las Vegas Charity Auction benefitted Clark County non-profits Camp Alamo and Share Village Las Vegas. Though fundraising totals for the 2024 auction are yet to be announced, last year’s auction raised over $107,000 in donations to Camp Alamo and the Inspiring Children Foundation.
