Ray Volpe Showcases Spiritual Successor To ‘Laserbeam’, ‘SONG REQUEST’

We’ve got the perfect heavy-hitter for your weekend soundtracks.

Bass music titan Ray Volpe just cannot get enough. He’s been releasing banger after banger ever since the chart-topper ‘Laserbeam‘. You would remember it dominated Billboard charts, was hailed as the most-played Dubstep track of 2022 by 1001Tracklists, and received flips from leading forces in the Dance world: Hardwell, Chris Lake, and Sullivan King.

Off the heels of his recent VOLPETRON ASCENDS tour, plus other milestones such as playing alongside NGHTMRE on a special B2B set and headlining Countdown’s NYE night, Volpe is now back with yet another gigantic track, ‘SONG REQUEST‘.

‘SONG REQUEST’

This track is pure heat. And it was not an accident, for Ray himself says it was born and built with the idea of being infectiously catchy in mind. “I thought of the entire song idea in the shower“, he says. “I was literally washing my hair and started thinking about that ‘baaa daa daaa’ melody. It immediately felt catchy to me“.

“‘SONG REQUEST’ really captures that rave experience where you, your friends, and everyone around you are shouting the song together, while connecting over that moment in time.”

-Ray Volpe

This one is not messing around at all. Infusing Bass House with the fiercest Dubstep growls and detuned saws, the single truly embodies the equivalently energetic next chapter following ‘Laserbeam’. Building up the tension continuously, the drop cleverly introduces its catchy melody in the form of a conversation between a clubgoer and a DJ, one whose main point is, well, a song request. The latter, of course, does drop that song that goes “Baaa daa daaa“.

We do have to issue a warning, though: you might end up catching yourself singing those three notes in the shower, much like the song itself came to be.
