Tim Bergling Foundation Brings Back “Dance For Life” For
2024
The Tim Bergling Foundation, the mental health non-profit founded in honor of Avicii after his tragic death by suicide in 2018, has announced the return of its “Dance for Life” initiative for 2024.
Taking place on World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, Dance For Life aims to raise awareness around mental health and suicide among young people by orchestrating student participation in choreographed dances at schools across Sweden.
Launched at Polhemskolan, a high school in Lund, Sweden, the initiative grew to invite participation from over 120 schools and 1,200 classes in 2023, with more than 30,000 elementary, high school, and adult education students dancing to Avicii’s music and conversing about suicide prevention.
“Today, on average, three young people take their lives each week,” The Tim Bergling Foundation wrote on Instagram. “Dance for Life is working to change this by spreading awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.”
The foundation is now encouraging schools and classes to join the initiative via Dance For Life’s official website. Participating classrooms will receive instructional videos for completing the dance and educational materials from mental health experts like the Swedish Psychological Association, Suicide Zero, and more.
Managed by Avicii’s family and headed up by Avicii’s father, Klas Bergling, The Tim Bergling Foundation strives to bring awareness to suicide as a global health crisis. Since its launch in 2019, the foundation has spearheaded numerous mental health initiatives and events, including its annual Together For A Better Day concert.
