The Inaugural Beyond Wonderland Chicago is all set to land at Chicago’s Beautiful Huntington Bank Pavilion this weekend (June 1st, and 2nd). The venue, which sits right on scenic Lake Michigan will be the perfect backdrop to an incredible music-filled weekend for all attendees. We put together some of our favorite acts that are slated to perform during Insomniac’s return to the Chicago Festival Scene this weekend to get excited. See you out there!
Xavi – Chesire Woods – Saturday – 2:00 PM
Midwest producer, Xavi’s emotional take on dance music has seen support from other like-minded artists, including being hosted by Seven Lions very own Ophelia Records imprint for his gorgeous To The Endless Searing Skies album. What a great way to kick off what is bound to be a great weekend
NOTD – Queen’s Domain – Saturday – 4:00 PM
One thing that I think is so important is to never listen to music in a vacuum. Songs, sounds, styles, and genres can all be magnified in the perfect environment. NOTD is one of those acts that will benefit from having outdoor summertime Chi as their backdrop. Their pop-centric originals and remixes are perfect for singing along with your friends and prancing around a festival. Remember, dance music is supposed to be fun. You’ve earned the right to have fun in the Chicago Summer.
RL Grime – Queen’s Domain – Saturday – 8:00 PM
I know what you’re thinking. “How cliche that Run The Trap is recommending RL Grime.” You’re damn right and we’ll apologize for absolutely nothing. He’s the don for a reason and is coming off a huge tour supporting his new PLAY album. And as he gets older he just gets better while bringing up the new generation with his genre-bending Sable Valley imprint. The only question is what ignorant Chicago hip-hop will he throw into his set?
Audien B2B Jason Ross – Cheshire Woods- Saturday – 8:40 PM
Hastily thrown together B2Bs for a music festival are one of my least favorite things in the world. It’s very obvious when they have no chemistry and the fans are who suffer the most. Luckily these two have gone b2b on a number of occasions, and is one that makes so much sense. Their euphoric tunes, love for crescendos, and experience with similar genres make it a perfect fit. Expect everything from progressive to trance, to house at this killer b2b set.
Tazu – Cheshire Woods – Sunday – 2:00 PM
Originally from Seattle but now calling Chicago home this young producer is no stranger to jumping between genres in his productions and has dipped his toe in the proverbial waters of trap, bass, future bass, and even some synth-pop production. He comes armed with whatever the day brings.
Daily Bread – Cheshire Woods – Sunday – 8:00 PM
Daily Bread’s meteoric rise just proved that the people were hungry for electro-soul and the unique twist on production he brings to the table. He’s always straddled the line perfectly between the beats and the bangers while drawing on his years of different musical influencers to create a journey that no one else on the lineup will be able to bring. His southern hip-hop roots blended with his love for organic-sounding samples are a match made in heaven.
Alesso – Queen’s Domain – Sunday – 9:00 PM
With Beyond Wonderland Chicago bringing a mega-fest feeling – we need some mega-fest artists playing Alesso is one of them. Alesso, now a veteran of the scene, has been steadily pumping out dance-floor anthems since the golden age of euphoric progressive house while being mentored by many artists his senior like Sebastian Ingrosso for example. As the weekend starts to come to a close, take some time, hug your friends, and sing along to all those bangers that you remember and love while you appreciate the weekend you just had. Like I said earlier, let’s have some fun.
