Beauty and brutality collide in "Ceremony," a brand-new single released today by Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH.
The song's intro slithers into the fray with spine-tingling choral swells, which quickly mutate into a contorted bridge that bubbles up like a pool of toxic waste. Mello and SVDDEN DEATH then descend into darkness as their eerie melodies are swallowed whole by a snarling dubstep drop characterized by an angry hive of distorted synths.
But the haunting undertone of song's intro lingers, its ghostly tendrils woven into the fabric of the drop's madness. It's the cathartic scream after struggling to hold back tears—a love letter to dubstep written in the language of sonic warfare.
