"Hawk Tuah": Electronic Music Producers Turn Raunchy Viral Moment Into Remix Gold

It's 2024, when "15 minutes of fame" gets shorter and shorter with each asinine viral moment. And just when you thought the internet reached peak cringe, the "Hawk Tuah" girl emerges to remind us that there's always a new level to unlock.

With the brain cells they have left, it seems the chronically online have already forgotten the woman seeking a man in finance in favor of Hailey Welch, who became an overnight internet sensation after a raunchy interview on the streets of Nashville.

"What's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?" a content creator asked Welch. "You gotta give him that 'hawk tuah' and spit on that thing, you get me?" she replied.

Welch's now-infamous catchphrase exploded on social media and led to countless memes with 24 hours, even infiltrating professional sports. MMA icon Conor McGregor posted in search of her identity and Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper emulated her on the basepaths in celebration of hitting a double.

The internet and all its morbid stupidity is a breeding ground for remix culture, so the electronic dance music community is naturally having a field day. And since social media's musical trends spread faster than shame at a strip club ATM, we've seen some hilarious results.

BIJOU reworked Welch's—ahem—advice into a tech house banger. Pun intended.

Meanwhile, Cyanic also went the dubstep route in his heavy-hitting "Hawk Tuah" remix.

Vancouver-based producer Up There manipulated the "Hawk Tuah" audio with some wonky effects in his nasty trap remix.

Last but certainly not least, hard dance superstar Ben Nicky interpolated Welch's interview into a high-flying techno remix.
