The RE-201 Space Echo Is Now Available On Roland Cloud

The vintage tape echo is available now as a plugin on Roland Cloud.

The Roland Space Echo, introduced in 1974, is an iconic tape-based delay unit renowned for its warm, rich sound and vintage character. Using a magnetic tape loop, it creates echoes with a distinct analog warmth that digital units struggle to replicate.

It became popular very quickly as its versatility from subtle reverb to wild, oscillating delays gave musicians lots of sonic options. From Pink Floyd to Radiohead to Massive Attack, it's been a staple for five decades and will continue to be so in its digital format.

Roland, the makers of the original Space Echo, created the software version, so the plugin remains true to the original's genuine analog character. Whilst there are other emulations already available, this is the first from Roland themselves.

    Notable features include:

    • Iconic tape delay and echo sounds with multiple head combinations and spring reverb
    • Resizable, high-resolution interface brings the feel of using the original hardware
    • Highly detailed and historically accurate graphics with pristine and aged appearances
    • Extended parameters for new sounds and modern production techniques
    • Six tape-speed LFO shapes with tempo sync plus rate and depth controls
    • Ability to adjust the physical condition of the unit, tape wow and flutter, and motor torque

The plug-in supports VST3, AU, and AAX formats. Those with an Ultimate membership will have early access beginning July 9th and beginning August 13th it will be available to purchase via Lifetime Keys, either directly from Roland or from retail partners.
